COMPOSITION
Each tablet contains:
- Calcium Carbonate equivalent to elemental Calcium 500 mg
- Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 250 IU
CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
Calcium is an essential mineral for bone formation and other vital physiological functions.
Vitamin D3 enhances the absorption of calcium from the intestine and supports bone mineralization.
This combination helps maintain adequate levels of calcium and vitamin D in the blood, especially in deficient states.
INDICATIONS AND USAGE
Prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency.
Management of osteoporosis and osteomalacia.
Supportive therapy in postmenopausal women, elderly, and during pregnancy and lactation.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Hypercalcemia and hypervitaminosis D.
Severe renal impairment or kidney stones (nephrolithiasis).
PRECAUTIONS
Monitor serum calcium levels in patients with renal impairment or those on prolonged therapy.
Avoid concomitant high-dose calcium or vitamin D supplements unless prescribed.
Use cautiously in patients with sarcoidosis or other granulomatous disorders.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
- May interfere with absorption of tetracyclines, quinolones, and bisphosphonates –administer at different times.
- Thiazide diuretics may increase the risk of hypercalcemia.
- Concomitant use with digoxin may enhance digitalis toxicity in hypercalcemia.
PREGNANCY & LACTATION
- Safe when used in recommended doses.
- Consult a physician before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Excessive intake may lead to fetal or neonatal hypercalcemia.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
- One tablet once or twice daily, or as directed by the physician.
- To be taken preferably after meals to enhance absorption.
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
- Constipation, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort.
- Hypercalcemia with prolonged excessive use.
- Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash or pruritus.
