COMPOSITION
Each tablet contains:
- Montelukast Sodium IP eq. to Montelukast: 10 mg
- Fexofenadine Hydrochloride IP: 120 mg
CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
Fexofenadine is a second-generation antihistamine that selectively blocks peripheral H1-receptors without sedation. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that reduces airway inflammation and hypersensitivity.
INDICATIONS AND USAGE
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis
- Chronic urticaria
- Allergic asthma (as supportive therapy)
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Known hypersensitivity to Montelukast or Fexofenadine
- Children under 12 years (unless prescribed)
PRECAUTIONS
- Avoid taking antacids within 2 hours of Fexofenadine
- Monitor psychiatric symptoms (Montelukast)
DRUG INTERACTIONS
- Erythromycin, ketoconazole increase fexofenadine levels
- Rifampin reduces Montelukast effectiveness
PREGNANCY & LACTATION
- Category B drugs
- Can be used in pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Lactation: caution advised
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Adults and children >=12 years: 1 tablet once daily before food
ADVERSE REACTIONS
- Headache, dizziness, nausea (Fexofenadine)
- Behavioral changes, abdominal discomfort (Montelukast)
